Perched at an impressive height of 3,849 feet, the summit of Mount Diablo can be admired from various East Bay cities, especially when it is dusted with a layer of snow during the winter months. Encompassing over 20,000 acres of beautiful landscapes, the state park surrounding Mount Diablo is a treasure trove of natural wonders. Its rich and diverse ecosystem supports a wide range of plant and animal species, creating a haven for wildlife enthusiasts and nature explorers. From observing fascinating wildlife to immersing oneself in the beauty of the surroundings, Mount Diablo State Park provides a remarkable opportunity to connect with nature and experience the serenity of this remarkable natural sanctuary.
Since this park is right in our backyard, it is a great place to explore on the weekends. Some of our favorite experiences include:
Driving to the top of Mount Diablo on a clear day to have a picnic at the top while taking in the views of the San Francisco Bay and the surrounding landscapes.
Exploring Rock City - Kid's of all ages can go bouldering amongst the rocks along this hike.
Camping at one of Mount Diablo's campsites - Live Oak Campground or Juniper Campground.
Mountain Biking on the various trails throughout the park.
In the spring, enjoying all the California poppies (Eschscholzia californica) and other wildflowers that come up throughout the park.
